Fisher Pond

In 1998, Bill Fisher made the biggest gift ever to the Land Trust from an individual – his 90 acre parcel that holds Fisher Pond. The Land Trust and the Park District then collaborated on a funding application to the state, using Bill’s gift as leverage, and raised enough funds to expand the preserve to its present 145 acres. Fisher Pond is Vashon’s largest open-water pond and one of our top birding spots. The Pond forms the headwaters of Shinglemill Creek (see also Shinglemill Creek Salmon Preserve), and the Preserve includes wetlands and stream footage all the way to Cove Road.
